This study aims to examine the changes in the education on ‘Dokdo’ since the 2009 revised curriculum, a topic included in cross-curricular learning themes, and to derive implications for the 2022 revised curriculum based on a comparative analysis of the “Dokdo Education Content Structure”, and the annual changes in elementary, middle, and high school textbooks with a focus on ‘structure’ and ‘content’. According to the results, firstly, the structure of the content system changed from ‘classification’-‘content elements’ in 2011 to ‘classification’-‘learning content’-‘content elements’ after 2014. The number of content elements increased from 23 in 2011 to 89 in 2014, but decreased to 45 in 2021. In terms of ‘content’, in 2014, geography and science-related content was introduced alongside history, and by 2021, the proportion of geography and science content had increased, with history content being balanced across different historical periods. Secondly, the textbooks in 2012 and 2015 both had a similar structure with four units for elementary and middle schools and five units for high schools. However, in 2015, the volume of elementary and middle school textbooks decreased while that of high school textbooks increased. Regarding ‘content’, there were elements present only in elementary or middle/high school textbooks, highlighting the difference between them. In the 2015 textbook, there were elements included in the content structure but not appearing in the actual textbook.
