영문초록 : 1. This study is about Consonant Gradation on the Early Korean Writing System from 2th century to the middle of 15th century. This study shows how Consonant Gradation has happened, and the tendency is as follows : 가. Labial of Initial a. b- ＞ h- ＞ Ø b. b- ＞ ß- ＞ w- ＞ Ø 나. Labial of Medial -b- ＞ -ß- ＞ -w- ＞ Ø ＞ -Y- 다. Dental of Initial a. *d- ＞ *dj- ＞ *nj-/n□ ＞ y b. n-＞ n□＞ y- 라. Dental of Medial a. -r- ＞ -z- ＞ -s b. -5- ＞ -z- ＞ Ø c. -rV ＞ -y 마. Post-Palatal of Initial *g- ＞ v- ＞ h- ＞ Ø 바. Post-Palatal of Medial -g- ＞ -Y- ＞ Ø ＞ □ 2. A Voiced Consonant undergoes Consonant Gradation at the Initial Sound or middle of a word. This can distinguish the consonant which goes through the gradation process from the consonant which does not. There are two kinds of a Voicing Consonant. One gradates or falls off in initial sound or in the middle of a word and the other doesn't. The former is based on the pA's Lenis, and the latter is on the Fortis's Voicing after the original Lenis and Fortis had experienced the changing joint, and it is shown in the later history of Korean language. 3. A voiced fricative shifts itself in the Consonant Gradation on the middle of a word. The Doublet originates in a voiced fricative shift. Labial b tends to change to -B- /-Y- and Velar g tends to -Y- /□. 4. *r appears in the Reconstruction of Korean, and we can divide it into two different kinds according to the Gradation aspect which is shown in the data of the early Korean Writing System. r which has undergone the changes of r ＞ z ＞ s is reconstructed to *ri^(1) in pA, and r which has undergone the changes of -rV ＞ -y is reconstructed to *r^(2) in pA.
