520 b영문초록 : Silence of Love (1926), a collection of poems by Han Yongun (1879 - 1944), a product mainly grown out of rich buddistic back ground, was Buddistically analyzed in this study based on the theories of causality and fatality and the practicing methods of self-perfection and altruism. The result of the study shows that Han's poems under the title of Silence of Love are of composed of different mixtures of idea given below. Large part of the poems either shows the necessity and significance of causationism or beautifies and appreciates the causational doctrine. One part of the poems represents the complex phenomena of causationism, while the other part of them depicts the will or process to tide over the causational yokes. As for the self-practicing methods. Some poems represent such virtues (Paiamita) as vigor, patience, meditation and wisdom. There are even more number of poems describing altruism or the practice of teaching others, which are too various to point one out of them. Some central ideas in them, however, are the religious practice of "Gatvariaparamana- cittani" or "Four endless compassions" and "Catuh-Sangrahavestu" or "Four limitless tolerations" But, since the practicing methods of perfecting oneself and teaching others tend to be coincidental, the whole poems develop in highly-sublimated and future-oriented way, emphisizing causationism variously related with the idea of njm of lover in Silence of Love. In short, the poems in Silence of Love represent the devout belief in the invitable significance of cousationism and the sincere practice to get the entrance into Nirvana. The poems' success as long-lived ones may be said to come from the articulate structure of liberal poetic techniques the author employed and abundant emotions the poems depict beyond the barrier of Buddhistic ideas. Therefore, Han's Silence of Love stands out as a masterpiece, representing Korea's "new literature" period.
