520 b영문초록 : The purpose of this study is to analyze the technology introduction status by Korean food industry. Nowadays, People want more health-oriented food and food became the subject of enjoyment. Thus, Korean food industry's technology introduction pattern is changing to satisfy people's preference. The result o( analysis boils down to four points. First, by the number of technology introduction cases, processed food industry topped the list, followed by food material industry. In the food material industry, farina related technology introduction took the largest spot. Among the processed food industry, livestock products showed higher number, and in the beverage process industry, beverage related technology import figure was higher than that of liquor. Second, this study suggested Korean food industry depend on technology too much from The United States and Japan. According to the total technology introduction cases from overseas during the time 1962 to 1994, Korean food industry imported technology a little more from Japan than U.S. But the figure was reversed after 1990. Third, by the type of technology introduction, Korean food industry purchased technology along with its brand name right more often than with its patent right. But in the field of food material industry, the result was the opposites. And last, it is conspicuous that the growth rates of technology Payments sharply increased since 1994. It is even bigger than that of nation's overall industry. The amount of money Korea paid U.S. 3.5 times more than what Korea paid Japan. It because U.S. sold expensive core technology and projects to Korea. Japan, however, sold less important technology, simply raised the number of cases. Meanwhile, there are several problems in the process of technology introduction that should be pointed out. First, limited technology introduction country, U.S. and Japan. Second, excessive introduction of technology with brand name right. Third, lack of core technology introduction. And last, under the WTO system, measures against SPS agreement and TBT agreement are fall short of expectations. As solutions to improve these problems efficiently, first, to select proper and core technology. Second, to improve capability of contract. Third, to establish group technology introduction system. And last, to minimize the amount of payment for technology, I suggested the developmental direction of food industry as follows. First, we should promote competition through monopoly appeasement policy and maintain well-balanced market structure in food industry. Second, we should develop traditional processed food palatable to eating habits in Korea. Third, we have to organize a management system which cope with multinational enterprises by consolidating the related regulations like Food and Aliens Investment Law and unifying the administration system. Forth, For national health and food safety we should restrain thoughtless consumption of foreign processed foods by developing popular campaigns at the consumers' level as well as government. Finally, It was impossible to obtain latest information on technology introduction status after 1994, due to the revision of related institution, except for the payments status for technology. There should be a supplement measures to help utilize useful data under the current payment certification system, so that people can see the status and find the problems of technology introduction not only by the Korean food industry, but also by the nation's overall industry.
