Over the past 20 years, Korean pop music (K-pop) has become a major driver of "Korean Wave culture" and has become increasingly influential worldwide. In particular, K-POP's global marketing strategy of "cultural hybridity" allowed it to penetrate deeply into the lives and consumption of fans in Asia beyond cultural differences. The 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, coupled with China's policy adjustments that have reduced the presence of the original "Korean Restriction Order," has allowed many Korean groups and artists to enter the Chinese market once again. This means that K-POP fans in China no longer have to limit themselves to online participation, but can also participate offline. Participation culture is one of the cultures of the fan base, and fan participation affects the idol economy market to a certain extent. The first chapter of the study, the research background and purpose, the research method and object. In chapter 2, the basic concepts and development of K-POP, fandom identity and forms of participatory culture within the fandom are introduced. In chapter 3, the researcher organizes the development process of K-POP in China from the late 1990s to the present, emphasizing the research value of this research. In chapter 4, through the method of virtual ethnography, the researcher summarizes the common forms of participatory culture of the K-POP fandom in China, such as text production, commodity purchase and consumption, and finds that fans mainly enhance their self-identity and social identity through these behaviors. In chapter 5, the researcher uses in-depth interviews to further understand the connection between the Chinese K-POP fandom and identity. In chapter 6, the results obtained based on the theories and interviews are analyzed to find out how Chinese K-POP fans build their sense of identity through online and offline participatory behaviors based on theories of participatory culture and social identity. The conclusion shows that China's K-POP fandom produces more positive impacts when practicing participatory behaviors such as text production, commodity purchase and consumption. Fans participate in the self-expression of their idols and use them to satisfy their vicarious desires for their idealized selves. When an individual is attributed to a fan group, the fan's sense of self-worth is derived from the fan group's and society's positive evaluation of the group. Fans establish a "social identity" based on sharing hobbies and interests with other fans, and by participating in group activities, they realize personal satisfaction and at the same time establish a sense of group identity and belonging. Social identity also emphasizes the importance of social groups to individual identity. Whether fans participate in individual or collective support activities, it is essentially a process of practicing "fan identity" and obtaining a "sense of belonging". Therefore, "self-identity" and "social identity" are not isolated from each other, and "self-identity" also has the social group nature, which is not only the positive projection of fans' inner desires, but also the interaction with others in the group. It is the positive projection of fans' inner desires, as well as the self-recognition emotion generated by interacting with others in the group. Through self-identification and social identification, fans can feel their sense of existence and belonging, which helps them realize their personal and social goals and gain emotional satisfaction.
