With the development of communication technology, mobile applications (apps) have enriched the form of industry, changed the communication mode of information and reshaped the lifestyle of the public. Excellent apps can create great value for enterprises and users, while most of them are not recognized by users. The interface, which is the most direct channel for interaction between app and user, has become the primary way users evaluate an app. Thus, the importance of interface design has widely recognized. In order to enrich the design language of app interfaces, motion graphics have become the focus of designers with its unique charm. However, the mobile usage patterns and the size of the interface limit the information transmission. Therefore, the question of how to flexibly apply motion graphics to meet users’ needs and reflect design value has become an urgent issue for interface designers. Meanwhile, the user experience provides a good inspiration for solving this problem. In this study, we take the dynamic icons in the app interface as the research object, and use the user's cognitive mechanism as the theoretical basis to analyze the core features of dynamic icons in the interface. By studing the influence boundary of the core feature of dynamic icons, this study discusses the perceived usability of dynamic icons. This study proposes a user-centered subjective and objective hybrid evaluation methodology, which solves the problem of different evaluation characteristics at different usability levels. On the basis of theoretical research, attention and usability are evaluated, and the test results are cross verified, so that the results have higher reliability. This study found that attention is the core feature of dynamic icons in interface. An eye tracking experiment was used to study the effect of dynamic icons attention under various experimental conditions. Through the analysis of the distribution characteristics of user attention, it is found that with the change of the number of dynamic icons, the influence of dynamic icons on a user's attention is also different. The number of dynamic icons plays a significant role in regulating the change of a user’s information processing mode. The change of information processing mode is the fundamental reason that affects the attention of dynamic icons. Taking travel apps as the research object, we studied how dynamic icons are understood and implemented by users in the process of human-computer interaction. The results showed that there is no specificity in the perceived usability of dynamic icons. However, we found that dynamic icons can significantly improve the efficiency of user selection behavior in the decision-making stage. This research provides an important reference for the design and application of motion graphics in app interface in the future, and then provides a more effective path for the improvement of user experiences in mobile terminal app interfaces.
