The purpose of this study was to understand the meaning and essence of the experiences of unmarried mothers in the process of group art therapy based on Resilience. The research participants were 12 unmarried mothers who participated in resident-based group art therapy. As a result of the study, we derived the following five essential themes. First, the theme of "throwing away at the trauma situation" implies the shock and confusion experienced at the same time as being isolated from family, human relationship and society arbitrarily and others. Second, the theme of social reality facing 'different' means that the social criticism that is not reflected in various family culture is shrinking. Third, the theme of "accepting maternal life" means that the mother gets away from the traditional maternal behavior and experiences the confusion of maternal identity but gradually accepts her unique maternal life by sharing her experiences with group members. Fourth, the theme of "Going to relational recovery" is that it initially acts as a factor that interferes with the existing relationship in which the child is formed, but gradually acts as a driving force to protect and grow oneself through relationships with children. Finally, the theme of 'Living Self-Relational Life' that unmarried mothers, experience confusion while nurturing their children, but it means to live their own self-life gradually as they come into contact with their inner self and ascertain their limitations and possibilities. The intrinsic experience of the research participants was able to give meaning to 'live a maternal life in a crisis over the limit of oneself'. Participants in this study were new mothers who challenged their new life to nurture their children. By accepting these maternal lives, they became a driving force to live an autonomous life. Based on the results of the study, we investigated the resilience factor of the unwed mothers and discussed the policies and services at the social level for strengthening individual resilience.
