The purpose of this paper is to conduct a contrastive study on the relationship between the Korean and Chinese moods, by investigating how Korean sentences with mood marking endings correspond to Chinese sentences expressing mood.Firstly, this paper classifies the mood category in Korean and Chinese languages; and then comprehensively examines the subcategories of mood in Korean and Chinese through example analysis. Korean mood is divided into 4 subcategories, i.e., declarative mood, interrogative mood, imperative mood, and propositive mood. Chinese mood is subcategorized as declarative mood, expressive mood, interrogative mood and imperative mood. This paper examines the syntactic features of Korean declarative final endings, interrogative final endings, imperative final endings, and propositive final endings. A contrastive analysis is conducted between Korean final endings and their corresponding syntactic forms in Chinese, based on the sub-classification of Korean mood marking final endings. For Korean declarative final endings, there are '-다, -네, -으오, -습니다, -어, -더라, -느니, -는데, -거든, -을걸, -지'of statement mood, and expressive mood '-구나, -어라, -도다, -구먼', promise mood '-을게, -으마', warning mood '-을라'. For interrogative final endings, there are '-느냐, -나, -으오, -습니까, -어, -는가, -을까, -지, -을래'; for imperative final endings, there are '-어라, -게, -으오, -으십시오, -어, -지'; for propositive final endings, there are '-자, -으세, -으오, -읍시다, -어, -지'.For Chinese declarative mood particles, there are '呢, 的, 了, 來著, 啊,吧'; for expressive mood particle, there is '啊'; for interrogative mood particles, there are '嗎, 吧, 啊, 呢'; for imperative mood particles, there are '了, 吧, 啊'. However, there are also difference between Chinese mood and Korean mood. Korean language is an agglutinative language. By contrast, Chinese language is an isolating language, so it can express mood subcategories with no mood particle. For those Chinese sentences that have no mood particle, this study uses the notion 'no marker mood' and represents it with 'Ø', a zero morpheme. This kind of Chinese sentences can mean declarative mood, interrogative mood and imperative mood.According to the data analysis in this study, the corresponding relationship between Korean mood and Chinese mood can be concluded as follows:From honorific meaning's perspective, Korean declarative final endings '-다, -네, -으오, -습니다, -어' are different from each other. However, from mood's perspective, they are the same. These final endings correspond to Chinese modal particle '的, 了' and no marker mood 'Ø'. '-더라' is mainly used in recalling the past, corresponding to '來著' in Chinese. '-는데' is used in an explanation, corresponding to '啊' in Chinese. '-거든' has exaggerating and contrasting meaning, corresponding to '呢' in Chinese. '-느니' means that things happen as being taken for granted, corresponding to '當然…了' in Chinese. '-지' means a confirmation to a certain event, largely corresponding to '吧' in Chinese. Korean sentences with expressive mood meaning are similar to Chinese sentences with the particle '啊'. Interrogative final endings in Korean, i.e., '-느냐, -나, -으오, -습니까, -어, -는가, -을까' correspond to '嗎,呢,啊' and 'Ø' in Chinese. Korean imperative final endings correspond to '吧,了,啊' in Chinese. Finally, Korean propositive final endings correspond to '吧' in Chinese.
