The Funeral of Muslim is the first novel of Huo Da, a female writer of Hui ethnicity in 1987. This work looks back on changes and developments in long, hard and rocky history of Chinese Muslims with a unique perspective. In this work, she dramatized a psychological changing process of mental collision and confluence which the main character experienced between Chinese and Islamic cultures through a predestined life trace of three generations of a family of Muslim. Also, she portrayed an embarrassment from the truth of life as well as a strong hope for it that the family could not but face in the special atmosphere of era. With an epic characteristics, which showed the livelihood and emotional world of modern Hui people living in a city, this work has a high literary and aesthetic values among Chinese literature of the age. As such, the present study considered Huo Da's the Funeral of Muslim as target and specifically analyzed a connotative meaning and spiritual value of Hui culture released in this work. This study comprises four chapters. Chapter 1, the introduction, is composed of motive of research, review of existing researches, research scope & method, and life and literary career of the author. Chapter 2 introduced origin and formation of Hui people, briefed development process of Hui literature, and looked into the background of creation of the Funeral of Muslim. Chapter 3 is a text analysis of the Funeral of Muslim. This chapter analyzed ethnic cultural spirit intrinsic to Hui culture released in this work in three aspects of search of values in Hui culture, contemplation on Hui culture and narrative technique of the work. Part 1 specifically and detailedly analyzed the literary reproduction of Hui traditional culture in terms of religious faith and ethnic traditional rites (funeral and wedding). Religious faith of Hui people is a core of Hui culture and critical element of characteristics of Hui ethnicity. Funeral and wedding of Hui people assume a strong religious tinge and such traditional rites provide glimpses into Hui people's perception on life and path of life. Part 2 aimed to explore spiritual value of Hui people through the life journey of characters in this work. Disclosing the root of three tragic loves in the work, this study aimed to examine the problems occurred in the development process of Hui culture and find the development direction of ethnicity and ethnic culture the author suggested. In part 3, narrative technique of text was investigated in terms of clothes of Hui culture and creation of vocabulary which has characteristics of Hui culture. The author granted multiple cultural implications in 'moon' and 'jade' and constructed a narrative structure of parallel and cross between moon and jade in the work. And connotative meaning of Hui culture in the vocabulary which had characteristics of Hui culture was discussed in three areas of Arabic and Persian transliterated vocabularies and liberally translated vocabularies, meaning extension of Chinese indigenous vocabulary, and borrowing sound of Chinese vocabulary. Chapter 4 is conclusion. This chapter identified this work from two aspects of value & significance and its influence on the Chinese literature of the age.
《穆斯林的葬禮》是回族女作家霍達於1987年創作的第一部長篇小說。小說以獨特的視角回顧了中國穆斯林漫長而艱難的發展歷程,講述了一個回族穆斯林家庭六十年的興衰,三代人的命運沉浮,揭示了主人公在華夏文化和伊斯蘭文化的撞擊和融合過程中的心路歷程,以及在特定的時代氛圍中對人生真諦的困惑和追求。它是中國當代文學中首部表現都市回族人民生存境況和內心情感世界的史詩性作品,具有很高的文學地位和美學價值。本論文以霍達的《穆斯林的葬禮》爲研究對象,系統地分析文本所呈現的回族文化的內涵和精神價值。 本論文共分四章,第一章是緒論。交代本文的研究動機,研究範圍和研究方法,將前人的研究成果做了系統的歸類和整理,並對作者霍達的生平和創作經歷做了詳細的介紹。 第二章對回族的起源及形成進行整理之後,對回族文學的發展歷程進行了概括總結,並對《穆斯林的葬禮》的創作背景進行了分析。 第三章是文本分析。分別從回族文化的文學演現,回族文化的價值觀探索和回族文化的反思,文本的書寫技巧三個方面對《穆斯林的葬禮》中體現的回族文化的內涵和精神價值做了系統的研究。第一節從宗教信仰和民族傳統儀式(葬禮,婚禮)入手,對文本所呈現的回族傳統文化的文學演現做了詳細而具體的分析。回族的宗教信仰是回族文化的根基,是回族民族性格形成的決定因素。回族的葬禮和婚禮帶有濃厚的宗教色彩,從儀式中可以看出回族對生命的尊重意識和對人生的展望。第二節結合文本人物的生命歷程探求回族文化所蘊含的精神價值,並通過對作品中三段愛情悲劇根源的挖掘,探討回族文化在歷史發展過程中存在的問題,找出作者霍達爲民族和民族文化指出的發展方向。第三節從回族文化的意象分析和回族文化特色詞彙的創造及運用兩個方面針對文本的書寫技巧進行了詳細的論述。‘月’和‘玉’在文本中被作者賦予了多重文化內涵,以‘月’和‘玉’構成的平行交叉的敘事結構是文本的一大亮點。回族的語言是回族文化的眞實寫照,本文從阿拉伯語、波斯語的音譯詞和意譯詞的使用,漢語語義的拓展和假借三個方面對蘊藏在回族特色詞彙中的民族文化內涵進行了探討。 第四章是結論。從作品的意義、價值和對當代中國文壇產生的影響兩個方面進行了總結。
