Model predictive control (MPC) method represents a way of transforming an open-loop optimal control problem into a feedback methodology, as at every time step the input applied to the process depends on the most recent measurements. The solution is always based on a linear discrete-time system and derived from the optimization of a cost function with various constraints. Different from the classical MPC strategy which demands a great mount of on-line computation, the explicit MPC is developed to obtain a piecewise affine control law and the state space partition, by solving the multi-parametric program. Thus, the computational complexity is reduced from the on-line optimization to a simple region-searching problem. For uncertain systems, the min-max MPC method was extended, which is an emerging control technique based on a worst-case optimization of future system behavior. However, the on-line computation burden is still a drawback which limits the range of its application. In this thesis, we develop an algorithm to determine the explicit solution of the constrained min-max MPC problem, which is based on a discrete-time linear system with bounded uncertain disturbances. Since the maximum of the quadratic cost function is only attained at extreme point of the disturbance set, we develop multi-parametric quadratic programs (mp-QPs) in two different kinds of active extreme point sets, which correspond with two kinds of state regions. The control law is proved to be piecewise affine and continuous. Meanwhile, the state space is partitioned into polyhedral regions by a designed algorithm which improves on previous works. As a result, a piecewise linear feedback control law has been defined over resulting polyhedral cones. This off-line explicit evaluation can be implemented without an involved on-line computation. Thus, it is expected to broaden the range of applicability of the min-max optimization technique to situations where the on-line computation is prohibitive for time cost reasons. The resulting control policy and region characterization is demonstrated by applying the approach to a numerical example. Computer simulations have verified the effectiveness of our methodology.
