고령화 사회로 인한 노인의 신체적․정신적 건강의 문제, 노년기에 대한 사회적, 경제적, 의학적, 복지적 관점 등의 논의와 해결책이 현대사회의 중요한 과제로 부각되고 있다.본 연구는 미술이 가지는 치유적인 효과를 바탕으로 노년기 대표 질환인 우울증, 치매, 뇌졸중 개선에 효과적인 미술치료의 방법을 모색하고, 미술치료를 통한 노년기 질환의 예방과 이미 나타난 증상을 개선시킴으로써 노년기 삶의 질을 향상시키고, 성공적인 노후를 맞이하는데 도움이 되고자 함에 목적이 있다.미술치료는 비언어적 시각 예술인 미술을 바탕으로 개인의 심리를 진단․치료하기 위한 것으로 인간의 잠재력, 성장 가능성을 개발하는 자기경험과 자기본성의 회복기회를 부여한다. 미술치료를 통해 인간의 건강한 힘을 재발견하며 질병을 예방하는 차원에서도 치료적인 의의를 갖는다.미술치료는 궁극적으로 심신의 어려움을 겪고 있는 사람들을 대상으로 하여 그들의 미술작품을 통해서 개인의 갈등을 조정하고 자기표현과 승화 작용을 경험하게 하며 자아 성장을 촉진 시키는 역할을 한다.미술치료를 통해 심리적 긴장감을 이완하고 안정감을 얻게 되며, 기억력의 저하를 막고 회상을 통해 기억력을 자극시킨다. 자기 표현력이 증가하고 언어능력이 개선되며 갈등과 문제해결능력이 생긴다. 색과 형태의 구별 능력을 유지․개선하고, 뇌 손상의 문제점을 회복시키는 재활의 효과가 있다.우울증 개선을 위한 집단 그리기와 집단 입체작업 등의 기법은 새로운 방식으로 자신을 표현하게 함으로써 심리적인 불안감과 우울증을 극복하게 한다. 자기 상실감을 감소시키고 노년기에 대한 긍정적인 수용을 가능하게 하며 손상된 감정을 완화시켜 노년기의 에너지 소통을 원활히 하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다. 미술은 노년기의 문제행동들을 긍정적인 방식으로 해소시킬 수 있도록 돕는 정화의 기능을 한다.미술치료는 자신의 감정을 솔직하게 표현 할 수 있는 역할을 하므로 불안, 긴장, 초조, 두려움 등의 방어나 저항이 심한 심리 상태의 치매환자에게 용기, 의지력, 즐거움을 주며 집중력을 높이고 자아존중 감을 향상시킬 수 있다. 색과 형태의 구별 능력을 유지시켜 줌으로써 인지기능을 회복 시켜주고 기억력의 저하를 막는 효과를 갖는다.뇌졸중 환자의 재활적 측면을 고려한 미술치료는 뇌세포를 활성화하고, 안면, 손, 신체의 운동기능을 향상․숙련시키며 언어의 이해능력과 표현력을 개선한다. 이를 통해 뇌졸중의 편마비, 언어․운동․인지․지각 기능 장애 등의 증상을 개선하며 의존적인 심리 상태, 분노, 불안, 수치심, 피해 의식에서 벗어나게 한다.미술치료를 통해 노년기 질환을 예방하고, 그 증상을 개선시킴으로써 건강한 노년기를 향유할 수 있다.
As transition to the aging society is accelerating, solutions to old people's physical and mental health problems from the perspectives of society, economy, medicine and welfare are becoming more and more discussed as a very important social issue. The purpose of this study is to how to effectively use art therapy in improving or preventing old-age diseases that are usually represented by depression, dementia and apoplexy, ultimately improving old people's life quality and helping their successful later life. Art therapy aims to diagnose and cure individuals' psychological problems by using art which is non-verbal and visual. The therapy provides old people with the opportunities of experiencing their potential development and restoring their nature as a human being. By making art works for themselves, old people who have a physical or mental suffering can reduce conflicts that they have with others and experience self-expression, self-sublimation and self-growth. Art therapy allows old people to rediscover health and force that they inherently have, preventing them from disease. Art therapy can make old people psychologically stabilize by alienating their tension. It also stimulates people's memory by help them recollecting things related to them. The therapy helps old people raise the skills of self-expression, improving the ability of language use and obtain the skills of solving conflicts and problems. Art therapy helps old people raise and maintain the ability to discriminate different colors and different shapes. Art therapy is effective in rehabilitation. More specifically, it helps old people's damaged brain return to its initial, undamaged state. As parts of art therapy, group painting and the group making of three-dimensional works help old people overcome anxiety and depression by allowing them to express themselves in a different way than usual. The two methods reduces old people's sense of self-loss, making them feel more positive about their old age. They also alienates old people's emotional damage, making them more actively utilize their own energy. Art has a function of purification. In other words, art helps resolving problematic behaviors of the old age in a positive way. Art therapy allows that self-expression is made in a free way. For this reason, the therapy can make old dementia patients get courage, willpower and delight, who usually have anxiety, tension, irritation, fear or other emotions for protecting themselves or resisting to others. The therapy raise the patients' power of concentration and self-esteem. It restore the patients' cognitive skills and keep their memory by maintaining their ability to discriminate different colors and different shapes. Art therapy is effective in rehabilitating old people having apoplexy. In more detail, it activates the old apoplexy patients' brain cells, improves their motor skills in relation to their face and hands and raises their skills of language appreciation and expression. Art therapy make the patients free from psychological dependence, anger, shame and the feeling of being victimized by alleviating symptoms brought by apoplexy such as hemiplegia and the malfunction of language, motor, cognitive and perceptive skills. In conclusion, art therapy can prevent or improve old-age diseases, making old people enjoy a healthy life.
