This article analyzes the process by which the high class social club in colonial Korea under Japanese imperialism changed from the political Japanese-Korean reconciliation club to the sports oriented golf club by adopting "the process of acculturation" that Kenichiro Hirano introduced in "International Cultural Relations". The summarized results are as follows. The Japanese-Korean reconciliation club, an old equilibrium established in the 1910s, allowed Korea’s upper class capitalists, including Koreans and Japanese resided in Korea, who actively supported Japan’s assimilation policy, to promote friendship among members and to promote their political and economic influence through exchanges with high ranking officials of the Government-General. The partial decline of the Japanese-Korean reconciliation club began due to antipathy towards public Japanese-Korean reconciliation activities and the need for the Government-General to attract overseas tourists. In order to prevent this, golf(club) was introduced and presented as an element of foreign culture from China through the opening of Hyochangwon Golf Course in 1921, and was accepted with the establishment of Gyeongseong Golf Club and relocation to Cheongnyangni Golf Course in 1924. The accepted golf club faced full-fledged resistance with including criticism for neglect of work and opposition from residents who lost firewood, etc. Afterwards, the golf club was reinterpreted and reorganized through the opening of Gunjari Golf Course, an 18 hole regular course, and the hosting of various golf competitions, etc. And in the mid-1930s, it achieved a new equilibrium as a sports oriented high class social club consisting mainly of Japanese high ranking officials from the Government- General and Korea’s upper class capitalists.
