In this study, we compared the properties of Jeju clay and Yixing clay, and investigated the applicability and possibility of using Jeju clay to make a teapot. The teapot is a porcelain unique to Yixing, China. It is known in the pottery world for its unique earth materials, manufacturing techniques, and functionality of tea sets.I wanted to try to make this traditional Chinese ceramic with new materials, and I chose the non-volcanic ash soil in the southwest of Jeju Island. In Jeju Clay, the clay produced in Guali Dayi, Xiguipu City, is the clay used for pottery production, and contains a similar composition to the Yixing soil, and has a similar calcination temperature and color. As a result of analyzing the firing strength, color, and gloss by comparing the specimens made of clay and Jeju clay after firing, it was confirmed that there was a possibility that Jeju clay could be used to make YiXing teapot. The comparison process using Jeju clay and YiXing clay as follows. First,we analysis the content components.. Second, we analyze the shrinkage rates. Third, we analysis the colors after firing. Fourth, the plastic deformation rate is compared. Fifth, we analyze the absorption rate. As a result of the study, we conclude that Jeju clay has similar characteristics, strength, and color, so it is suitable for the production of the teapot, which is a teapot, and has excellent functionality, so there is a possibility for the development of teapot in the future.
