In order to grasp the relevant research trends of eSports in China, this study investigated the researches of eSports in China by 2021 through the methods of bibliometrics, visual analysis and content analysis. The items of publishing year, author and organization, keyword frequency and keyword cluster are selected as the analysis indicators. The main conclusions of the research results are as follows. First, affected by government policies, public attitude and capital investment, the number of papers increased slowly from 2000 to 2016 and increased significantly from 2017, indicating that the social status of eSports has been improving rapidly in the past five years. Second, from the author's information, it seems that there are no authoritative researchers who have published a large number of high-quality eSports research and led the research direction in China. The position of eSports research in Chinese academic circles still needs to be improved. Third, according to the analysis of keyword cluster characteristics, the advance research is divided into five theme groups related to eSports games, match and live broadcasting, development status and countermeasures, eSports industrialization and university education. These theme groups are not only the focus of eSports research in China, but also reflect the development focus of eSports industry in China. Through the results, researchers can understand the development context and shortcomings of China's eSports industry and academic research, and could better introduce own advanced experience and eSports culture in the exchange activities with China, formulate the best eSports development strategy to maintain own advantages.
