There has been a talk of solar home and its installation for a long time, but, feasibility and cost analysis are highly important point for a low-income country like Bangladesh. This paper focuses on a solar based home energy solution to reduce the consumption from grid in the residential sector in Chattogram district, Bangladesh. The proposed system will focus on a grid-connected solar system which will contribute to the consumption of a home as well as the grid. Large solar-based plants are not particularly a practical solution due to small and limited landmass. Hence, the ultimate plan is to focus on designing a system which will be efficient considering the specific facts of Chattogram, Bangladesh. The Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI) and Diffuse Horizontal Irradiation (DHI) for Chattogram have been taken into consideration to come up with the daily energy potential. A detailed calculation of the energy consumption has also been shown in the paper as well. HOMER software has been used to validate the system. Finally, the annual cost and consumption analysis have been done to fill up the research gap in existing literature.
