Map projection is the key factor for robot navigation and lots of similar applications. For tackling with this challenging and imperative issue, a novel high speed and accuracy map projection algorithm named double axes equal-distance projection is elaborated. The algorithm adopted the equal-distance projection to two axis which is benefit for the accuracy and speed-up the calculation in the small-scale. Some experiments are carried out and some promising results are obtained. Based on an average 1.66 times faster and 9.5% higher accuracy than classic Gauss-Kruger projection algorithm, the double axes equal-distance projection algorithm presented in this paper will be widely employed.
