The high frequency common-mode voltage generated by conventional pulse width modulation (PWM) strategy may lead to bearing electrical corrosion and electro-magnetic interference problems. The reduced common-mode voltage (RCMV) PWM strategies can reduce the negative effect of common-mode voltage without increasing the cost of hardware. However, the existing RCMV-PWM methods are based on asynchronous modulation, which will cause unacceptable harmonic distortion when the carrier ratio is too low. This paper presents a hybrid RCMV-PWM strategy, which can suppress the common-mode voltage in wide speed range and ensure the symmetry of pulse waveform under the condition of low switching frequency.
