This paper presents a Physical Optics (PO) framework for the optimization of quasi optical millimeter wave measurement setups. The framework is based on the application of the physical optics approximation. This allows large electrical scenarios to be simulated quickly at small wavelengths. Compared to full-wave simulations, which reach their computational limits due to spatial discretization, the PO offers the advantage of fast testing of quasi optical millimeter-wave measurement setups. For the scenarios investigated, PO and full-wave simulations are shown to be in good agreement.
