This paper presents the design of a wideband amplifying reconfigurable reflective metasurface (ARRM) element with 1-bit phase resolution. It consists of a receiving O-slotted patch, power amplifier (PA) circuits and a reflecting U-slotted patch. The reflective phase is controlled by two PIN diodes loaded on the O-slotted patch. The integrated PA chip realizes spatial amplification of electromagnetic (EM) waves. The slotted patches in orthogonal direction are elaborately designed to ensure a wide operating bandwidth of the element. The size of the element is 0.42 λ×0.5 λ×0.054 λ. The simulation results show that the element can achieve a stable gain of 7.4~10.4 dB from 5.0 to 5.9 GHz, with a relative bandwidth of 16.5%. Meanwhile, the element maintains a phase difference of 180°±10° in the operating frequency band.
