We have developed a neuromorphic system using crosspoint-type TaOx/Ta memristors and direct device training for associative memory. First, crosspoint-type TaOx/Ta memristors are fabricated, and sufficient memristor characteristics are obtained. Next, a neuromorphic system is implemented using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip and crosspoint-type TaOx/Ta memristors, thereby achieving the function of associative memory. Notably, direct device training makes the neuromorphic system’s architecture dramatically simpler compared with other conventional training.
