According to this study, Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is suggested here for the multi-objective best placement of the Static VAR compensator (SVC) in the transmission system. The purpose is to identify the ideal buses and the appropriate size of SVC at these buses in a bid to decrease both the voltage deviation index (VDI) and the installation cost of SVC. To solve the multi-objective problem, weigh-sum methodology is used. The results of GWO and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are also contrasted. On the IEEE-30 bus system, the proposed GWO's effectiveness for multi-objective problems is evaluated. On the basis of active power loss (APL) and reactive power loss (RPL), VDI, sizing cost, and minimum voltage profile, contingencies are framed and contrasted. The results of the simulation demonstrate that the suggested strategy outperforms PSO and improves the technical characteristics of the system.
