Highlights: •A low-cost and simple biochar catalyst originated from corn stover was fabricated.•The cellulose catalytic pyrolysis was performed over the biochar.•The biochar weakened the generation of reactive constituents actively.•The biochar favored the generation of monomeric phenols and hydrogen remarkably.•Despite 10 cycles reuse at a high temperature, the biochar was still active.
