The article discusses the findings of a study to describe the morphology and phylogenetic data of the new species Brasiliocroton muricatus plant found in eastern Brazil. It notes that B. muricatus was derived from the Crotoneae tribe that included B. mamoninha using methods that involved deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) extraction and sequencing of internal transcribed spacer (ITS). It cites that the B. muricatus is distinct in terms of its inflorescence position and surface and size of the fruit.
