An interview with "New York Times" journalist and linguist Margalit Fox is presented. When asked how she became an obituary writer, Fox admits that she fell into it by accident as nobody really makes an ambition of becoming one. She adds that she took up that job which nobody in any newsroom ever wanted after spending ten years of being a copy editor on the "Times Sunday Book Review" and ending up bored and depressed. She said that writing obituaries is the best beat in the business.
