In this article, the adsorption of latex core-responsivepolymerâshellnanoparticles at the airâwater interface is investigated usinga Langmuir trough. Phase transition isotherms are used to exploretheir responsive behavior at the interface as a function of changesin the pH of the subphase. By adjusting the pH of the water priorto particle deposition, we probe the effect of the stabilizing polymerwetting by the water subphase on the stability of these particlesat the airâwater interface. In addition, by initially compressinga stable film of adsorbed particles and then subsequently changingthe pH of the subphase we study desorption of these particles intothe water phase.
