The article presents the discussion on dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius), ‘ship of the desert', belonging to the order Artiodactyla and family Camelidae. Topics include ancient Chinese documents and archaeological evidence where yaks being domesticated by the Qiang which being the ancient nomadic people in Western China; and large tracts of grasslands being lost for grazing under government programmes.
