The article present a case study of a 75-year-old man was brought to the emergency department by his wife after he ingested an overdose of hydromorphone with the intent of ending his life. Topics discussed include diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma one month ago; improvement in pain and dyspnea with titration of opioids and drainage of large, malignant pleural effusions; and involvement of the complexity in the assessment for medical assistance in dying (MAiD).
