Student involvement in the New Horizons Research Conference cruise was organized by faculty at the University of Miami School of Nursing and members of the Beta Tau Chapter of Sigma Beta Tau International. While cruising to the Bahamas over semester break, students were given the opportunity to obtain two hours of academic credit and become personally acquainted with major researchers. The objective was to motivate the students to use nursing research findings in practice and to encourage them to consider a future as a nurse scientist.
