Peter recapped how a vision of the student as a "mini-scientist", behaving as real scientists might in their own laboratories, permeated the science curriculum into the 1960s. It is Peter's publications on curriculum that are our focus for the remainder of this article, an unsurprising decision given the status with which his work on curriculum, in particular, has been applauded around the globe. We see these three as representative of his leadership in science curriculum thinking, and his agenda-setting for research in this field, as well as the evolving nature and breadth and depth of his curriculum writing in I RISE i .
