In pitch based carbon fibers at low temperatures, they find the simultaneous presence of a negative magnetoresistance and the Shubnikov-deHaas effect. The strengths of these effects correlate inversely. These results can be understood in terms of the amount of order vs disorder in the fiber, as described by Guigon and Oberlin from structural studies.
