John Bellamy Foster is looking for the root causes of environmental issues at the capitalist system. He views capitalism as an economic system that is bound to fall down without constant growth for accumulation of capital. Therefore, under capitalist system the development and production are essential. According to him the development and production cause the destruction of nature and it eventually comes down to causing the collapse of capitalism. With these assertions, he opposes any reform plans within the capitalist system and at the same time he insists eco-socialism is the best alternative system. I also agree that the capitalist system is the cause of environmental problems. However, I am opposed to his argument that eco-socialism should be an alternative framework of capitalist system. This paper is aiming at the revealing the basis for such my argument.
