The amount of incident light that enters the photovoltaic (PV) module and is collected in the solar cell is affected by the refraction rate between air and glass or matter, and the degree of glass surface soiling. Previous studies have shown that anti-reflective coatings (ARC) and superhydrophobic coatings improve productivity in PV power generation. The exciting properties of micro- and nano-patterned surfaces found in by forming patterns on flat glass and coatings show new opportunities on PV modules. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the optical effects through patterns and the properties of self-cleaning can help improve the power. The optimum pattern structure is realized, which results in power improvement on photovoltaic module. That can be applied in various fields.
