In this article, we pointed out the limitations of the existing definition of high mounded tomb, and proposed alternatives to high mounded tomb as conceptual definition and high mounded tomb as operational definition. In the case of Yeongnam region, high tombs with mound and burial grounds appear in the latter half of the 4th century, and Silla high mounded tomb with large tombs where gold and Silla-style earthenware are buried together appear in the first half of the 5th century. Silla high mounded tomb appeared in the center of Silla from the first half of the 5th century, and the oldest candidate for Silla high mounded tomb is the 119th tomb, which many researchers have compared to the royal tomb of Namul. The emergence of Silla high mounded tomb in the first half of the 5th century means that various differentiation strategies were carried out for each group or individual through monuments. It is Silla high mounded tomb as a monument that integrates all the differentiation strategies that existed in various ways in the center of Silla.
