This paper examined the effect of SMEs' network density on export performance focus on a quadratic model investigation. The results of this study using the questionnaire data of 150 SMEs located in Jeonnam provinces are as follows. Analysis results showed that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between network density and export performance of SMEs. It has been found that export performance increases when network density increases, but when network density exceeds a certain level, it has been found to negatively affect export performance. This means that the formation of a inter-firm network complements scarce resources and facilitates the flow of information. However, if the network density is too high, it is confirmed that it is difficult to enjoy the network effect because the opportunity to acquire new information decreases. Therefore, it was found that there was no more positive effect between network density and export performance above a certain level. Therefore, the formation of a network of SMEs could present implications that achieving an appropriate level of connection can have a significant impact on export performance.
