The purpose of this study is to verify various causes of depression experienced by married women in pandemic situations by exploring the relationship between family cohesion and entrapment in the relationship between COVID-19 stress and depression. A survey of 164 married women aged 20 or older living in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheong-do was conducted online, consisting of the COVID-19 stress scale, depression scale, family cohesion scale, and entrapment scale, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0 and Process macro 4.0. Based on previous studies that perceived stress in pandemic situations affects depression, the hypothesis was established that family cohesion and entrapment will sequentially mediate the relationship between COVID-19 stress and depression in married women. In the relationship between COVID-19 stress and depression, family cohesion was verified as an amulet, and entrapment was statically significant indirect effect. In addition, it was found that COVID-19 stress had a significant effect on depression through family cohesion and entrapment sequentially. In other words, it can be seen that COVID-19 stress perceived by married women is a factor that increases depression by lowering family cohesion and increasing the level of entrapment. Based on these results, I would like to discuss efficient ways and countermeasures to properly manage the mental health of married women in future pandemic situations.
