The purpose of this study was to comparatively examine the expressive activity area of elementary school physical education subject between the seventh curriculum and the revised curriculum in 2007 and then look into elementary school teachers` perception of physical education (dance) subject. For this, a questionnaire survey of 100 elementary school teachers in Gangwon-Do area was carried out. 95 responses were collected and among them 91 responses were used in final analysis, except 4 responses in which no answer for some questions was included. Collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 18.0 program and the level of significance was established at p<.05. And such statistical techniques as frequency analysis, independent sample t-test, ANOVA and cross tabulation were used. Study findings are as follows: As for the satisfaction with the contents of expressive activity in the seventh curriculum and the revised curriculum in 2007, the extent of satisfaction with the contents of expressive activity in the seventh curriculum was 3.033 and it was an ordinary level. The extent of satisfaction with the contents of expressive activity in the revised curriculum in 2007 was 3.123 and it was also an ordinary level. Therefore, teachers seemed to be satisfied with both curricula. As for the extent of teachers` familiarity with the seventh curriculum and the revised curriculum in 2007, about 75% of them didn`t correctly understand the seventh curriculum and about 74% of them also didn`t correctly understand the revised curriculum in 2007. The reason why their level of familiarity was low seemed to be related to the fact that the system and direction of domestic education inclined to the knowledge acquisition-oriented subjects and therefore physical (dance) education was naturally neglected. In other words, since the subject of physical education is not a knowledge acquisition-oriented subject, interests in it is reduced.
