In addition, the Commission analyzed whether the reasons for performing the social responsibility activities of the enterprises vary depending on the characteristics of each country by dividing them into listed Korean companies and listed companies in China. To achieve this objective, the ESG (China RKS) score of the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance, a more objective measure of a company's social responsibility activities, was analyzed for its relationship with the value of the entity as a measurement variable. A sample of this study was taken from 2011 to 2013 for the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance's ESG valuation score among the exchange-listed firms that were not part of the financial industry that was disclosed. The analysis results are as follows.First, the social responsibility activities of an entity as a whole showed a positive relationship between its value and a significant amount. In other words, the higher the level of social responsibility activity of an entity, the higher the value of the entity. This means that entities that perform active corporate social responsibility are reflected as important information in the capital market. Second, the level of corporate social responsibility activities and their relevance to corporate value differed depending on the characteristics of the entity. For listed Korean companies, Kospi companies saw their corporate value increase as they actively carried out their social responsibility activities, but for Kosdaq companies, the report showed. Third, the level of corporate social responsibility activities and the relevance of corporate value to each country also differed. State-owned enterprises reflect state intervention in their motives for carrying out social responsibility activities, and non-nationalized enterprises tend to more actively carry out social responsibility activities for positive effects by investors such as foreign capital. The results of this study show that corporate social responsibility activities are reflected as a positive determinant of corporate value. Therefore, it suggests that entities in the future need to more actively carry out their social responsibility activities in the capital market.Key words: CSR, Firm value, Tobin-q
