이 연구에서는 대학생들의 페이스북 중독이 그들의 사회성 및 자아정체성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고자 했다. 이와 함께 페이스북 이용동기, 이용행위와 성격특성이 이 과정에서 어떠한 역할을 하는지를 함께 파악하고자 했다.페이스북 이용동기는 대인커뮤니케이션동기, 정보탐색적 동기, 엔터테인먼트적 동기, 자기확인동기로 구성되었다. 페이스북을 이용하는 행위로는 정체성 확인, 사회성, 오락성으로 구분되었고, 성격요인은 외향성, 친화성, 성실성, 신경성과 개방성으로 구분했다. 이를 토대로 이러한 요인들이 페이스북 중독성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 또한 페이스북 중독성이 사회성 및 사회성의 하위요인-자율성, 근면성, 사교성, 안정성, 지도성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 마지막으로 페이스북 중독성은 자아정체성 및 자아정체성의 하위요인-친밀성, 주도성, 목표지향성, 정체감 유예, 정체감혼미와 자기수용에 대한 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 연구의 결과, 페이스북 이용동기 중에 엔터테인먼트적 동기와 자기확인 동기가 페이스북 중독성에 정적인 영향을 미치고, 페이스북 이용행위 중에는 정체성이 페이스북 중독성에 정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 5가지 성격요인 증에 외향성과 신경증이 페이스북 중독성에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나왔다. 또한 페이스북 중독성은 사회성에 대한 부정적 영향을 미치고 사회성 하위요인의 근면성과 안정성에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 페이스북 중독성은 자아정체성에 대한 부정적 영향을 미치고 자아정체성 하위요인의 정체감 유예에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나왔다. 본 연구 결과는 페이스북 중독성과 관련된 심리사회적 기제를 이해함으로써 페이스북 중독성으로 인한 사회성 및 자아정체성의 심리적 문제를 이해하는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 또한 페이스북 중독척도를 개발하는 데 있어서 유용한 자료로 제공될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 본 논문에서 페이스북 중독을 유발할 수 있는 원인인 이용목적, 이용행위, 게인 성격 특성을 제시하여 페이스북 중독을 치료하는 데 있어서 도움이 될 것이다.
This study explored the effects of college girl students’ Facebook addiction on their perceptions of sociality and self-identity. This study also examined the role of motivations for Facebook use, types of Facebook use, and individual traits in the relationship.More specifically, the motivations for Facebook use include interpersonal communication, information seeking, entertainment, and self-confirmation. The types of Facebook use were composed of identity use, sociableness use, and entertainment use. The Individual traits include extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness. In addition, this study attempted to analyze the effects of Facebook addiction on the 5 sociality sub-dimensions such as autonomy, leadership, industry, stability, and sociability. Finally, this study also attempted to analyze the effects of Facebook addiction on intimacy, proactivity, goal orientation, identity moratorium, identity diffusion, and self-acceptance. The results show that motivations for entertainment and self-confirmation were positively correlated with the degree of Facebook addiction. Identity, one of the Facebook use variable, was positively correlated with the degree of Facebook addiction. Extraversion and neuroticism of Big 5 personality traits were positively associated with the degree of Facebook addiction. The degree of Facebook addiction was negatively influenced sociableness. It was negatively influenced industriousness and safety. Finally, the degree of Facebook addiction was negatively influenced the degree of self-identity and positively influenced the degree of identity moratorium. The implications and limitations of the study were also discussed.
