This paper proposes a path planning technique using Theta* and Piecewise Bézier curves. Theta* creates a path from the initial position of an unmanned vehicle to a target point within a map secured a priori by omnidirectional path planning. However, this does not take into account new information reflected in real time. To this end, in this paper, we propose an optimization-based path planning technique that considers the characteristics of the surrounding environment and unmanned mobile vehicle, curvature of the generated path, and followability of global path in real time. The solution of the optimization problem is obtained using spiral optimization, and the optimal control point of the Piecewise Bézier curve is generated using the solution. A virtual environment system is developed with the robot operating system (ROS) and Gazebo. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to verify the validity of the proposed technique, and the results are analyzed.
