Gypsum contain various impurities. Some impurities in gypsum can cause abnormal setting, or affect adhesion and hardening strength. Because of this reason, determination of the impurities in gypsum is important from the standpoint of product quality control. In this study, we proposed a novel method for determination of impurities in gypsum on the based on chemical equilibrium and experimental studies. We developed a dissolving solution using a chelator. Gypsum dissolved to this solution around the neutral pH. The impurities in the solution were able to determine by normal measurement methods. This method is applicable to on-site determination of impurities in waste gypsum for recycle of waste gypsum boards.
