The treatment of carcinoid tumor of the rectum is decided according to the size of the lesion, and polypectomy or local resection is generally selected when the tumor size is 10 mm or less. However, a small carcinoid tumor sometimes involves liver or lymph node metastasis. We operated on two carcinoid tumors of the rectum with a diameter of 10 mm or less with metastasis. The two lesions were diagnosed histologically as classical type carcinoid, localized in the submucosal layer and had no lymphatic or vessel involvement. Both lesions had central depression. One case had multiple liver metastasis and the other had lymph node metastasis.Although the tumor size was 10 mm or less, when it has a central depression, there is the possibility of metastasis.
