A 60's female had the experience that underwent pancreatic head duodenectomy for pancreatic head cancer one year ago. A cancer recurred and had to be operated on again, but she had the strong fear for the postoperative pain. We chose two pain scales from several scales for postoperative pain management. So, the pain was controlled and she obtained a motivation as well as comfort. In this case the patient and a nurse evaluated it with selected scales together, and then we established rapport. It led that she accepted fear to have established rapport. This report about interpersonal aspects of nursing and process of the psychological change.
