Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to study the surface structure of 7-day-old Echinostoma revolutum and E. liei adults grown in the domestic chick. Differences in the surface topography were noted in the two species. The oral sucker of E. liei was well-defined on the oral collar and the sensory papillae on the lip of the sucker were ciliated and tiered. The oral sucker of E. revolutum was not as well-defined on the oral collar and the sensory papillae on the lip of the sucker were domed with apical pits. The tips of the oral collar spines of E. liei were knobbed, whereas those of E. revolutum were not. The rim of the acetabulum of E. liei was spinose, but relatively free of papillae. The acetabular rim of E. revolutum was aspinose, but had abundant papillae.
