Films Posters are the movies’ visual communication media and an important means of promoting movies. In the context of globalization, different versions of posters should be designed when the same films are distributed at home and abroad because of language and cultural differences. The Chinese version and overseas version posters of Chinese films show differences in oriental aesthetic and emotional expressions and visual expressions. Based on this, this study selected Chinese and overseas version posters for nearly 20 years from 2002 to 2019. Chinese version of the poster is mainly based on the graphics of movie actors, and the overseas version of the poster is creative and creative in expressing the contents and symbols of the movie. Oriental aesthetics is well expressed in overseas versions, but it is closer to modern expressions than to Chinese elements and concepts. Recently, Chinese designers have tried a new design that combines traditional and modern Chinese culture. Through the case, the oriental aesthetic expression and visual expression elements of domestic and foreign version posters of Chinese movies were analyzed. In order to spread traditional Chinese culture and stories around the world through movie posters, research and experimental exploration are needed from national and designer positions.
