This study has been conducted for the purpose to verify the relation under which nurturing environments influence children's stress on academic performance and their mental health in order to search christian of practical alternatives necessary to reduce such stress and to enhance their mental health. To achieve these, 700 students out of 8 coeducational middle schools in Seoul were surveyed, and 651 cases were used in the final analysis. The results show that the nurturing environments(personal, family, school, and community) place negative impacts on their stress on academic performance and mental health. Especially, students with a higher level in the scholastic achievement as personal characteristics, in the family cohesion as family environment, and in the satisfaction in the school as school environments have less stress on academic performance and mental health problems. Based on the above research results, practical intervention ways have been proposed which may interlink the children, family, school, and community in terms of children welfare, not out of the pathological side in preceding studies.
