The purpose of this study is to develope a career education program using educational drama for the improvement of the career maturity of elementary students. For this, the study identifies the concept of career education and career maturity. And the elements of career maturity for elementary students are selected as follows: self-understanding from the category of ability, job planning, attitude towards work, independence from the category of attitude. Depending on the claim that the growth of the other elements grounded upon self-understanding, the study mainly deals with self-understanding. In addition, by exploring the relevance of educational drama and self-understanding of career maturity, the potential of career education program using educational drama is explored in terms of whether it can improve the career maturity. For this purpose, the research is conducted upon 6th year of primary school through integrated curriculum. The subjects in this study are pupils who are under researcher’s charge in their sixth grade in T elementary school located in Gyeonggi-do. The career program are established by extracting and integrating the contents related to career education in 6th year curriculum. The program is devised using educational drama according to pivotal questions related to the goals consisting of 8 sections and 20 terms. This study includes only the category of attitude and self-understanding of career maturity since it is found that the elementary students are in a career awareness step. As a pre-test and post-test, questionnaires consisting of career maturity for teenagers by KRIVET(Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training) are used. Also for complementing the limit of quantitative analysis in statistical evaluation, data of observation, pupils' diaries, field notes and recordings were collected and analysed. The outcome of the analysis of questionnaires is as follows. The experimental group treated with the career education program shows significant differences between pre test and post test in the elements of both overall career maturity(p<0.01) and job planning(p<0.01), attitude towards work(p<0.05), self- understanding(p<0.01) and independence(p<0.001). The analyses of data of researcher's observation, pupils' diaries, field notes and recording reveals that students’ attitude elements of career maturity improve through self-understanding and there is positive changes in communication skills and friendships. Given the findings of the study, it is concluded that the career education program developed by this researcher has a positive impact on the improvement of the career maturity of the elementary school pupils.
