Children's low EQ causes problems such as lack of commu nication skills and lack of understanding of others, and can affect adulthood. Since 3-6 years old is an important time for EQ improvement, The purpose of this study is to present the design direction and concept of children's toys suitable for the psychological behavior characteristics of children aged 3 -6 to improve EQ. It is based on literature research on theori es presented in various fields such as pedagogy, child psych ology, and industrial design, and research on the child toy m arket. The direction of toy design for improving EQ capabilit y was presented. In particular, the focus was on developing self-consciousness, self-regulation ability, self-motivation, e mpathy, and social skills, which are the five elements of EQ suggested by Daniel Goldman. As the principles of developi ng play toys for improving children's EQ, participation, lead ing, entertainment, safety, and creativity were presented. Det ailed guidelines for color, material, and function were mentio ned as elements of toy design. The direction of the toy desig n was presented with familiarity, stability, and abstraction, and accordingly, a toy with parents was proposed. Interview s were conducted with six potential users to understand the usability and improvement of the toy design developed. Inter views with potential users were conducted on the developed toy design to receive opinions that it was suitable for interac tion, and additional improvements were derived.
