The purpose of this study is to study the experiences of Satir family therapy-based group art therapy between mother and child in multicultural families, and clarify the meaning of their experiences. For this purpose, group art therapy was conducted on two mother-child pairs from multicultural families. Through the therapy, I collected the entirety of session processes, pre-interviews, observation records of researchers and observers, participants' presentations, art works, and post-interview materials. Data analysis was conducted throug h the process of generating meanings of key words, categorization, and topic formation following Creswell's (2012/2016) qualitative material analysis method. As a result of the study, the meanings of the experience of participating in group art therapy for mothers and children from multicultural families were divided into seven categories and three theme s. The themes were ‘Experiencing healing power of art’, ‘Realizing importance of conversati on’, and ‘Changes leading to daily life’. The conclusions drawn based on the above results are as follows. First, through group art therapy based on Satir family therapy provided partici pants with opportunities for immersion and self-expression through art, enabling a therapeu tic experience. Second, through group art therapy, the research participants were able to have deeper conversations that they could not have at home, which were remembered as a meaningful times. Third, the research participants felt that they were growing and changing throughout the group art therapy, and experienced changes that continued into their daily lives. The significance of this study is that it represented theoretical and practical data on the approach to art therapy in multicultural families by examining the experience factors of group art therapy for mothers and children in multicultural families.
