Micro-motion will cause serious defocusing phenomenon in high resolution spaceborne SAR cases which leads to decreasing image resolution. In this paper, we have built a simulation model to make the quantitative analysis of the signature and effect on maritime fluctuating target in high resolution cases. A motion compensating method dealing with the formed Single Look Complex (SLC) SAR images containing fluctuating target is implemented to get the refocused images and fluctuating parameters by applying inversion mapping and inverse SAR (ISAR) processing. The effectiveness and correctness of the approach on focusing and estimating parameters of the fluctuating target is demonstrated by processing the simulation results and archive images acquired by Terra-SAR in hybrid spotlight mode.
