This paper derives wide-angle parabolic equation (PE) method based perfectly matched layer (PML). This solution is implemented by finite-difference methods (FDM), which will allow propagation angles up to about 45°. As well known, traditional absorbing layer method works well for small propagation angles but become quite expensive for larger angles from the horizontal. The PML method has advantage over traditional absorbing window function in that PML required smaller layer thickness. It is the first time to derive general FDM wide-angle PE method based PML. The results show that the PML is better than traditional absorbing method for larger angle propagation.
